KNIT THE “HEY SAILOR” SWEATER

The “Hey Sailor” sleeveless sweater by Andrea Mowry is ideal for knitters looking to develop new skills and knit this cute summer top. This class will guide you from start to finish, covering everything you need to know, including how to create a gauge swatch and block your work.

“A cute summer top, ready to do double duty in your travel wardrobe!  Wear buttons in the back for a sweet top paired with high-waisted  trousers, or buttons in the front over your favorite summer dress. This  cardigan is worked flat from the bottom up and can be knit to either a  full or cropped length. The shoulders are shaped with short rows and  finished using the 3 needle bind off. The sleeves & button band are  then picked up from the body and knit.” - Andrea Mowry

Class Information

• Duration: 10 classes (1 class each week)

• Group Size: Only six (6) spots. We’re keeping this intimate so everyone gets hands-on help. First come, first served.

• Date: Classes start July 23rd 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Once we’re full, we’re full. Next session won’t be for another 2–3 months.

• Instructor: Catherine will guide you through the process and demonstrate the key steps. You will see sample pieces and learn how to block your work in class. She will knit the sweater alongside you.

Cost

The course is $110 for the full course (pattern, yarn, buttons, and tools are extra).

• 6 sessions = ~$18/class (to be confirm)

• 10% discount on yarn = potential $10–$15 savings

• Hands-on instructor attention (6 students = semi-private)

What You Need to Bring

• The “Hey Sailor” pattern (about $9 – you must buy it)

• Yarn for the project (about $110 - 180$, depending on what you choose)

• Knitting needles and basic tools

You can purchase materials in the store; a 10% discount is available to students enrolled in the class for the yarn & accessories.

This Course Is Great If You…

• You’re comfortable with the basics: casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off.

• You’ve made at least one garment or accessory that uses shaping (like hats, mitts, or sweaters).

• You’re ready to try (or already enjoy) techniques like: Picking up stitches, working with two colors (but only one per row—no stranded colorwork!), slipping stitches, german short rows, mattress stitch seaming, 3-needle bind off and buttonholes.

• You’re comfortable following row-by-row directions and using stitch markers.

• You enjoy learning alongside others and sharing your progress.

• You want a project that is customizable for length and style.

• You’re excited to create something you’ll actually wear.

If you’re brand new to knitting or haven’t tried shaping or seaming before, you might find this course a bit challenging. But if you’re ready to stretch your skills and learn in a friendly, supportive setting, this is for you!
